Less than a half mile from Maria Hernandez Park is Sally Roots. Sally Roots serves authentic Caribbean cuisine, as well as rum cocktails and other refreshing drinks. Their entire menu selection looks amazing. I decided to try their signature dish - Chicken Curry Tamale. The French onion oxtail soup also blew me away. And, of course, I couldn’t ignore their famous rum cocktails, especially hot buttered rum.

Momo Sushi Shack

Momo Sushi Shack is located steps from the Morgan Avenue subway station. Momo Sushi Shack is housed in a renovated warehouse, where the interior retains industrial floors, wooden picnic tables, and exposed brick walls like many Bushwick establishments. The presence of picnic tables creates an atmosphere of community as visitors can sit next to strangers.

While sushi is a big hit at Momo, their menu also features a few classic Japanese dishes. This place is also famous for Thai food Bushwick. Particularly impressive was the fresh bluefin tuna sashimi, presented in five pieces. I also decided to try the spicy miso ramen, which was perfectly spicy, and I even saved some for myself to take home.

Arepera Guacuco

A block from Maria Hernandez Park on Irving Avenue, there is a Venezuelan restaurant that has the best Mexican food in Bushwick.

This family-run restaurant is considered one of the best examples of Venezuelan cuisine in the area, and I couldn't agree more. From the moment you enter, you will feel the warmth and dedication with which the family runs this establishment.

Their menu includes a variety of dishes ranging from arepas and empanadas to classic entrees and salads. I especially enjoyed the cheese arepa, which served as an excellent appetizer. For my main course, I chose the Pabellon Criollo, the national dish of Venezuela, featuring shredded beef, white rice, beans, fried sweet plantains, and topped with Venezuelan cheese.

Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos

If you're looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in Bushwick, look no further than Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos. It is located on Starr Street and is not just a restaurant but a real tortilla factory. The establishment's interior is bright and colorful, perfectly reflecting the richness of Mexican culture and cuisine.

Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos offers a full range of Mexican dishes, ranging from tacos, taquitos and quesadillas. When I asked the staff what their favorite dishes were because I was having trouble deciding, they suggested choosing the pork quesadilla, chicken taquito, or chorizo taco, insisting that no matter what you choose, you can't go wrong.

Le Garage

On the south side of Bushwick, Le Garage serves authentic French cuisine in a modern, casual atmosphere. Some of the best Chinese food in Bushwick is also worth attention. When the weather is favorable, guests are invited to enjoy outdoor gatherings in the built wooden structure, which adds a special charm to the establishment. Elegant tables with tiny vases and flowers add sophistication to the place.

Le Garage's chefs pay attention to fresh ingredients, which is reflected in the variety and quality of their menu. Depending on the season, they sometimes make changes to the dishes they offer. Otis

Otis is located on Harrison Place, next to the Friends NYC gift shop. What is now a beloved local restaurant operated as a tailor shop in 1914.

The restaurant has a warm and cozy atmosphere thanks to dim lighting. They also provide a lovely garden, which is maintained in the warmer months and heated in the cold, making it attractive at any time of the year.

While the menu may seem relatively limited, the quality of the food clearly outweighs the quantity. Particularly noteworthy are the PEI mussels and lamb shank.
