If you’re aiming to hit the TV hotspots in the city (and we means those without the swarming crowds of tourists) or if you just want something delicious to nibble on, Magnolia Bakery should be first on your list.

This little West Village was first made famous by Sex in the City as the setting of Carrie and Miranda’s gossip over a couple of cupcakes. Since then, it’s exploded in popularity as more and more people have discovered its delectable treats, although somehow it’s never too busy. It’s just one of those New York City landmarks that stands there, day in day out, waiting for you to come back to time and time again. And the food isn’t bad either.

Magnolia bakery has everything from cupcakes to quiches. We love their banana pudding, which is essentially little pots of joy put together as the antidote to any hard day at the office or bad break up. They even have a rotating menu of special edition items, including the amazing winter red velvet pudding and Rockettes cupcakes.

The bakery first opened in 1996 and has gone from strength to strength, opening 30 stores around the globe and 6 in NYC, although we still love the original West Village location and it homey, intimate vibe. On sunny days, you can even cross the street and sit in the park and listen to the birds. In spit of its expansion, Magnolia Bakery has kept its same dedication to quality ingredients and they’ve stayed committed to not over-inflating their prices. And although there are lines at peak times like Friday afternoons and lunch slots, you can always get your foot inside and it’s certainly always worth the wait.
