Destination: Safeway holiday ice rink

There’s nothing like ice skating to get you into the holiday spirit. This year, we’re heading to the Union Square ice rink, the best ice rink in SF.

This beautiful rink in the middle of Union Square is a San Francisco institution, overlooked by the twinkling lights of the city’s best Christmas tree. From November 6 until January 20 2020, the ice rink will pop up for skating sessions each day between 10am and 11:30 pm.

Bring your date, your bestie or your parents to skate in this unique setting. Tickets start at just $15.26 and lockers are available on site for $3 each, allowing you thirty minutes to skate and take pictures in the twinkling lights. There are even special events taking place on the ice; catch the 30th Annual Macy’s Tree Lighting Celebration on Friday, November 29 at 6pm, or why not watch Drag Queens on Ice take the stage to amaze the crowd on December 5 at 8pm. There’s even a silent disco on December 12 at 6pm for those who want to start the (early) weekend off feeling cool.
