New Hobbies to Try From Home

New Hobbies to Try From Home

During quarantine we have an abundance of free time — hours we used to spend in transit to work, hanging out with friends or exploring the city. If you’re burnt out on Netflix and scrolling endlessly through social media, it might be time to pick up a new hobby to fill up some of that free time. Here are our favorite hobbies that are Outpost apartment-friendly!

Chef It Up

Now that we can’t sit down at our favorite restaurants for a gourmet meal, it’s time to try out your hand at cooking from home. Choose your top five favorite meals to eat out and recreate them at home — you can amp up your chef skills and impress your roommates with delicious dishes to share. Not sure where to start? Try out this delicious and fresh avocado shrimp ceviche recipe that only uses seven ingredients!

Bullet Journal

If you’re looking for a new way to stay organized and flex your creativity, buy a blank journal and build a personalized bullet planner from scratch. Plan your workouts, grocery store trips, online seminars and workflow for each week — bonus points for adding in drawings and color-coding your routines. This is a great way to stay motivated and on-track even during quarantine! If you're new to journaling, follow this guide to begin a pro-bullet planner even as a beginner.

Learn a New Language

What a better time to add a valuable skill to your resume! With apps like Duolingo at your fingertips, it’s never been easier to pick up a new language. Build a routine with at least 15 minutes a day dedicated to learning — even incremental studying and practice will boost your language skills!

Become Your Own Bartender

Rather than shelling out $10 for a take-out cocktail, learn how to mix your own signature creations. Create your go-to drink you usually order at the nearest bar or make new summer cocktails with muddled fruit, simple syrup or fresh herbs. Your next Zoom happy hour will feel even more celebratory with a homemade concoction in-hand. Here's 14 recipes to give a shake!

Programming

Get ahead and learn how to program! Nearly every industry relies on digital programming in some capacity, so this skill can go far and set you apart from your peers. LinkedIn has a free one month trial with lessons from experts, or try out one of these 21 free websites to start learning code.

DIY Outfit Upgrades
