The Best Places to Ice Skate in NYC

While snow is still blanketing New York City, there's no better way to enjoy the winter weather than ice skating at some beautifully scenic rinks. From Brooklyn to Manhattan there's plenty of spots for you to glide away while safe and socially distanced. Here's our roundup of the best spots to lace up!

Winter Village at Bryant Park 

Though Christmas has passed, Bryant Park is still a charming winter wonderland. With pop-up shops, warm drinks galore and an ice skating rink at the center of it all, this Manhattan location is perfect for your next date night or a day out with friends. Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance and bundle up! Tickets range from $21-$36 depending on the date and time you select. 

Wollman Rink

Central Park is already an iconic NYC landmark, so why not take it to the next level and skate beneath the Manhattan skyline? For newbies, Wollman Rink offers affordable public skating classes alongside the regular public access option. You can skate for $12 on weekdays or $19 on the weekend — skate rentals will cost an additional $10. 

LeFrak Center at Lakeside

For one of the most affordable ice skating options, try out the rink at Prospect Park in Brooklyn! Tickets are only $7.50 on weekdays and $11 on weekends, with skate rentals also available for just $8. You can purchase online or in-person, but keep in mind that your session at LeFrak will be timed for 90-minutes. 

Industry City 

Head to Industry City in Brooklyn for their heated outdoor rink, scenic setup and nearby coffee shops for when you're craving hot cocoa. The rink is open Thursday through Sunday, so this spot makes a great weekend activity when you're itching to get out of the house. Tickets range from $12 to $28 with skate rentals included — purchase your tickets online ahead of time. 

World Ice Arena

If you're in search of an indoor ice skating rink for those blustery winter days, head to the World Ice Arena in Queens! The rink is operating at minimum capacity, so make sure you plan ahead to be sure you have a spot. Tickets cost about $25, and they also offer group classes with reservations. 

Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers

You can ice skate at the indoor rink at Chelsea Piers year-round. Their spacious venue has sweeping views of the Hudson River along with ample room for all skaters, including figure skating and hockey. Even once winter has passed, this rink is a perfect place to keep your ice skating skills blade-sharp!
